For The Suits Profile: Mikkel Rude

In all likelihood, if you read this website you’ve heard of Mikkel Rude. In fact, if you haven’t heard of him yet, you’re fucking up. He’s being making some of the best shirts available for the last few years. His combination of classic tailoring details and subtle personal touches have led to the creation of a distinct style of shirting, one that harkens back to the days of the original skinhead, when the details on a shirt had to be just right or you were found out as a poser. But it’s not simply Mikkel’s shirt which are of interest here. We like to get to know and understand those that make the gear, both as people and as creators of the clothing. So we’ve chosen Mikkel Rude as our next For The Suits Profile.

FNF: John Mugabe versus Marvelous Marvin Hagler

Friday Night Fights time again. We figured with out preview on Pacquaio/Bradley centering around it’s similarities to the showdown between Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns, why not feature a Hagler fight? There isn’t ever a bad time for a Hagler fight, cause the cat was a scrapper through and through. Not that he was some no talent, skill lacking bum that was willing to put his body on the line. As you’ll see in his fight with John “The Beast” Mugabi, Marvin had a way to still have a scrap whilst exhibiting his world class boxing ability. Round 6 of this is particularly thrilling. We think you’ll enjoy.

We’re at the weekend again now ain’t we? This tune seems quite a good start to get it kicked off. Jeff Penner, one of our good friends and a collector with no shortage of killer tunes at his disposal, introduced us to this one. Bit odd in that it’s a Coxsone Dodd production but released on the Trojan subsidiary, Blue Cat. Nonetheless, have a great one from For The Suits.

We’re starting a new feature: Friday Night Fights. Not exactly a new concept in the boxing world, but hey, what better way to get the weekend stared than watching some of the best fights of all time? We decided to do this right, so the first one we’re bringing you is the 1981 showdown between “Sugar” Ray Leonard and our main cat Tommy “Hitman” Hearns. Something that we rarely see nowadays is two of the best in their weight class go face to face and mix it up. That was just a regular occurrence back in the 80’s when Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns, “Sugar” Ray and Marvin Hagler proved they were willing to put fears of records aside and let the action inside be the ultimate decider. So let’s get this kicked off right, enjoy.

March Fighter of the Month: Orlando Salido

Well we have another month of fights down, and some of the biggest names in the sport were in action. Sergio Martinez, Zab Judah, James Kirkland, Juan Manuel Lopez, Wladimir Klitschko and of course, the man himself, Erik Morales all mixed it up over the course of a very busy month in the fight game.
