On what would have been his 72nd birthday, here's 12 minutes of Bobby at his best. From Barking to Wembley, he is a legend in every since of the word. Too often that term is tossed around, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who has done more to bring prestige, honour and success to West Ham United and English football in general.

John Bond RIP

West Ham have lost another of the clubs legends. John "Muffin" Bond passed away today at the age of 79, another piece of the 1964 FA Cup winning squad gone. He was reknowned for the power which he possessed in each foot, a fullback who loved to have a belt at goal from 30 yards out whenever the chance arose. He played over 400 games for West Ham before leaving for Torquay before moving onto management, most notably at Manchester City.

Nineteen years ago today, West Ham United and the country of England lost someone the word icon might have well been created for. The pin we have marking the date of Bobby’s first game for West Ham was proudly displayed today, as it is every other day, but it was a bit more special. Bobby, we love ya. Rest in Peace.

Sir Trevor Brooking, West Ham legend through and through. Was responsible for goals in both the FA Cup win over Arsenal in 1980 and the crucial Cup Winners Cup semi-final win over Eintracht Frankfurt. The lad had a knack for showing up when he was most needed, didn’t he?

RIP Ernie Gregory

Ernie Gregory, a massive presence at West Ham for 51 years, has passed away. Ernie got his start at West Ham with the Boys setup before winning an amateur league championship with Leytonstone and beginning his professional career with the Irons in 1938. Hard as it is to imagine nowadays in the age of prima donna footballers, Ernie put his professional career on hold to serve in the Royal Air Force and then went straight back to playing for West Ham, playing for them for the next 14 years. There isn’t much Ernie didn’t do at the club having been involved as a coach for both the reserves and first team as well as lending a hand with the administration of the club. His is not a name who you often hear associated with the club but you’d have a hard time finding someone whose done more for the club. Rest in peace, Ernie.
