In The Blood

New book to keep your eyes open for. Or you can just go order it from Amazon, up to you really. In The Blood is written by some character called Snowy alongside Pete McKenna, he of Night Shift fame. Haven’t heard anything about the book ourselves as of yet, and we’ve yet to read, but the story centers around an East End gangster in 1967. Obviously his name would be Ronnie Hardman. Mr. Hardman has a love for Motown you see, and it’s the only thing keeping him sane. Then a bird comes into his life, starts to change him, he’s at a crossroads, etc. Get it? Sounds like a fun read to us.

Certainly appropriate for Valentines Day, no? Greatest love song of all time. The raw emotion and yearning present in Levi Stubbs lead vocal causes goosebumps with each spin. Has anyone ever sounded like they meant their lyrics so goddamn much?

Levi Stubbs

Levi Stubbs is the goddamn man. One of the most talent vocalists in all of music, he never once tried to make himself a solo star instead choosing to focus all his talent on performing in the Four Tops (originally the Four Aims). No matter how many times the opportunity to go solo or receive top billing in the Four Tops was presented to him by Berry Gordy, he refused to be made the star of the group. A paragon of loyalty at a time when people like Diana Ross were willing to throw the rest of their groups under the bus to get famous. Also in this picture this motherfucker is getting his shine on.
