Khan vs. Peterson

I'd be inclined to agree with Khan's opinion regarding the split decision victory for Peterson. Let's clear up one thing first: Lamont Peterson put in a hell of a performance. At the beggining of the fight I thought Marcos Maidana would remain Khan's toughest challenge so far in his career, but he quickly proved me wrong. He came in excellent condition, was able to take everything Khan threw at him and landed some absolute bombs which should put any doubt about Khan's chin to rest finally.

But at the end of the day, as the two judges who awarded the fight to Peterson's scorecards show, the referee got it all wrong. Is pushing illegal in boxing? Yes. When was the last time you've seen a point deducted for it? There should have been a hard warning for Khan before the first point deduction and the second point deduction was an absolute joke. For two warriors to get into the ring, leave it all out there and then have the fight decided by a clueless referee is a tradegy. There's a reason the guy has been refereeing since '96 and this was only his sixth title fight.
The only place to go from here is a rematch in Bolton. It's only fair, Khan came to fight Peterson at home so now Peterson must do the same. I don't think there is a fan of the sport who doesn't want to see the rematch at the moment.
